Position Overview:

The Director of Community Impact is a critical leadership position responsible for how United Way of Reno County shows up in the community to solve complex challenges. This role serves as a connector, facilitator, and strategist, working with local stakeholders to build collaborative solutions that improve lives.

The ideal candidate will be a systems thinker who can balance relationship building with results-driven implementation. This person will lead and support cross-sector coalitions, manage a small internal team, and oversee initiatives that directly address equity and economic mobility, particularly for ALICE households. This position reports directly to the CEO.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Facilitate and support community coalitions addressing challenges in the four focus areas.
  • Represent United Way at community tables, leading conversations, driving shared goals, and following through on action steps.
  • Serve as a visible and trusted partner in public forums, with funders, and across local sectors.

Strategy & Program Oversight:

  • Lead strategy development for United Way’s impact initiatives, in collaboration with partners and internal teams.
  • Guide implementation and evaluation of strategies related to Healthy Communities, Youth Opportunities, Financial Security, and Community Resiliency.
  • Use data, community voice, and lived experience to shape strategy and drive accountability.

ALICE Work:

  • Serve as the lead on ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) initiatives.
  • Share data, trends, and insights with community stakeholders to promote awareness and advocate for systemic solutions.
  • Lead partnerships and projects designed to improve outcomes for ALICE households.

Team Leadership:

  • Supervise and support the Reno Connections team (currently 2 staff), who provide direct navigation support to families in crisis and our ALICE neighbors.
  • Guide the strategic direction of Reno Connections to align with broader United Way goals.
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performing internal team culture.

Requirements:

Education and Experience:

  • At least 3 years of professional experience in community development, program management, systems change, or related work.
  • High School Diploma Required. Associate’s degree preferred.
  • Experience facilitating coalitions or collaborative partnerships is highly desirable.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong facilitation, public speaking, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to manage complex projects and align diverse stakeholders toward shared goals.
  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and complexity; able to adapt strategies, shift approaches, and lead through change in dynamic environments.
  • High emotional intelligence, cultural humility, and commitment to inclusive engagement.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Comfortable with data analysis and outcome evaluation.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and mission-driven.

Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:

  • Valid Driver’s License required.

Compensation & Benefits:

Job Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $50,000 - $60,000, commensurate with experience
