Elizabeth Walton is the Development Manager at United Way of Reno County. She joined United Way three years ago, bringing more than 20 years of experience in personal and commercial banking, 20 years as a personal financial coach, and 10 years of nonprofit work. Elizabeth is a 2000 graduate of Leadership Hutch (Reno County) and is currently enrolled in the Kansas Leadership Center.

In her role, Elizabeth builds relationships across the community to share the impact of United Way of Reno County and to highlight how United Way serves as a resource for individuals and businesses. She also works closely with local employers to coordinate workplace campaigns, giving both individuals and businesses meaningful opportunities to invest in making Reno County a place where everyone can thrive.

“United Way’s work is deeply fulfilling to me. Finding a vocation with such immediate and positive impact is rare. Every day, our office hears from individuals facing trauma or financial hardship. In many cases, we are able to offer relief and connect them with additional community resources. Walking alongside people during difficult moments is a privilege. The team at United Way means a great deal to me. My coworkers inspire me daily through their knowledge, compassion, and commitment to one another. It truly is a joy to come to work each day.”

In addition to her role as Development Manager, Elizabeth oversees the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free, age-appropriate books each month to more than 2,000 children in Reno County. The Imagination Library remains a key part of United Way’s commitment to strengthening early literacy and early learning.

“Before working at United Way of Reno County, I was not fully aware of the needs that exist here each day, from infancy through end-of-life care. Many of these needs would go unnoticed without the work of United Way and other caring nonprofits in our community. This work has expanded my understanding of both the challenges and the thoughtful solutions required to build a truly thriving community.”

Elizabeth believes deeply in the mission of United Way of Reno County and is committed to using her skills and experience to help the organization grow and respond to the community’s most pressing needs. Her goal is for United Way to be the most trusted leader in conversations and solutions that improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of Reno County and advancing the common good.

A native Kentuckian, Elizabeth loves all things Derby. She and her husband, Eric, moved to Hutchinson in 1998 and have two sons and a daughter-in-law. Family and friendships are most important to her, and in her free time, you may find her golfing, cooking, traveling, hosting a gathering, or serving at her local church, Grace Bible.
