Our board members are dedicated leaders committed to strengthening our community. In this section, you'll learn more about what inspires Jeremy to serve on the United Way of Reno County board and his vision for the future of our organization.
I have worked in the financial industry in some capacity since graduating from WSU. I began my career as a loan officer at Bank of Kansas in South Hutchinson and spent several years working as a Finance Manager at a local dealership. I started with Heatland Credit Union (Hutchinson Credit Union at the time) in 2009 as an account representative, and my passion for serving members and the credit union industry was born. I have been married for 20 years this year, and we have a 13-year-old son. We love to travel when we can and have found riding the mountain trails in our RZR great family fun!
What motivates you to serve on the board of United Way of Reno County?
I am motivated to serve on the UWRC board for a couple of reasons. The mission and foundation of the UWRC align closely with HCU. UW exists to serve the community and partners - HCU exists to serve our members and communities. The support UWRC provides community organizations impacted our family early in our son's life. He (we) benefited from the resources provided by the Early Education Center. My wifi works for Interfaith Housing, and knowing firsthand the impact they make on so many is so valuable to our community.
What’s one local cause or issue in Reno County that you're particularly passionate about?
An area for me is ensuring individuals with disabilities have an avenue to live a full, secure, and happy life. Included in that, if able, the opportunity to work, providing them independence.
What do you believe is the biggest impact that United Way can have in our community?
The biggest impact is spreading the passion within UWRC into the community to keep the conversations happening, the ideas churning, and new opportunities created.
What’s your favorite way to spend a Saturday in Reno County?
Family, Family, Family (Football)
What’s a moment or experience during your time with United Way that has left a lasting impression on you?
Indirectly through the help our family received from the Early Education Center.
How do you like to give back to your community outside of your role with United Way?
There is a Community Work Day that HCU facilitates every year that I take part in. I also attend several benefit events each year.
