United Way of Reno County will host its annual Community Work Day this Saturday, October 11, bringing together approximately 350 volunteers to complete more than 20 service projects across Reno County.

This day of service unites individuals, businesses, and community groups in hands-on projects that directly support local nonprofits and community spaces. From landscaping and painting to park cleanups and more, volunteers will roll up their sleeves to make a visible difference in our community.

This signature event for UWRC has two notable changes from past years. First, is the shift to the fall date from the traditional date in late August. Secondly, UWRC is planning to offer two Community Work Days each year — one in spring and one in fall. The change is designed to provide cooler weather, more comfortable working conditions, and increased accessibility for volunteers of all ages and abilities.

“Community Work Day is one of our favorite ways to see United Way’s mission in action,” said UWRC CEO, Lacey Mills. “By coming together twice a year, we’re able to meet more community needs, connect more volunteers, and keep that spirit of giving alive year-round.”

Though all volunteers needs have been met for this coming Saturday’s projects, United Way encourages community members, businesses, and civic groups to get involved in the next Community Work Day panned for Saturday, April 25, 2026.  Interested volunteers can plan early and sign up using the from on the UWRC website here: www.uwrenocounty.org/volunteer.
